Mobius sculptureHealdsburg, CA artist, T Barny, continually conquers the challenge of creating the Mobius out of stone.

The Mobius has been a source of intrigue and mystery to many. It is the visual manifestation of the geometric formula which describes an object with one side and one surface.

Have you ever seen something in a store or gallery that still remains in your mind? You meant to go back and see it again. You meant to find out more about where it came from, who made it and why. Years later you have to know the answers but the artist has moved onto a new style of work. It is no longer available.

Artists become known for their style and technique that creates a body of work; a series with a particular theme. T Barny has been carving out his own style for over 30 years. He is primarily known for his abstract, curvilinear sculptures born from various types of stone.

From the beginning of his career, he has carved his signature design, “The Mobius.” At this point in his career, these shapes are becoming physically demanding to create. They are also becoming rare.

On September 7, T Barny made an appearance in Santa Fe to celebrate “The Year of the Mobius.” The Hunter Kirkland Contemporary was proud to present his dazzling new pieces. The Artist Reception was Friday, September 7 from 5-7pm at 200-B Canyon Road, Santa Fe, NM 87501.
