This month, Aaron Crowley was feeling especially patriotic and was inspired to write a poem honoring the Founding Fathers and American businessmen.

The business-man is a hardy soul,
Small-business hardier still,
The battle for profits
May empty his wallet,
But it’ll never break his will.

He struggles on against the odds
He’ll take on any foe,
Will the sale be made
Or will he get paid
Uncertainty’s what he knows.

Freedom instead of security
That was the Founders wish,
So they took up arms
And left their farms
In 1776.

To gain for us a sacred right
The chance for us to choose
No safety nets
And no sure bets
Just the chance to win or loose.

But if we loose sight of this fact
Thinking freedom is guaranteed
We’ll wake up some morn
To a new era born
Where freedom’s a memory.

So on this 4th of July
This Independence Day
Let’s commit
To saving it
So it doesn’t slip away!
