Beware: Still on the Books
IF you live or travel through Kentucky, you scofflaws beware; certain monkeyshines and frivolous behavior will be severely dealt with by the long arm of the law. Don’t get caught in any of the following illegal activities, and you may escape jail time… or a hefty fine. Be advised that:
- It is illegal for a woman to appear in a bathing suit on a highway unless she is A) escorted by at least two police officers; B) armed with a club; C) or is lighter than 90 pounds, or more than 200 pounds.
- Throwing eggs at a public speaker could result in up to one year in prison (thankfully, repealed in 1975) or a $50.00 fine.
- It is illegal to remarry the same man four times.
- No person shall sell, exchange, offer to sell or exchange, display, or possess living baby chicks, ducklings, or other fowl or rabbits which have been dyed or colored; nor dye or color any baby chicks, ducklings, or other fowl or rabbits under two months of age in any quantity less than six.
- It is illegal to fish with a bow and arrow, statewide.
- In Fort Thomas – Dogs may not molest cars. The law does not specify any punishment for humans molesting cars.
- In Owensboro – A woman may not buy a hat without her husband’s permission.
