The Publisher’s Pen: What do you think is the most important innovation of our time?
Isn’t technology wonderful? I recently listened to a radio interview given by my brother, Darwyn Hassert, a pastor and author. (Shameless plug, check out his books on Amazon). When asked about the most important events of the last 1000 years he replied John Wycliffe’s English translation of the Bible and Gutenberg’s invention of the printing press. He explained that these were necessary events for the development of the unique experiment called America.
This of course got me thinking about my favorite subject, which is innovation. In my lifetime I would have to say that the Internet would be innovation #1. At this point in time we have not even seen 1% of what is possible and the future potential is amazing. Write to me and let me know your choice.
So what does the Internet have to do with the stone industry? Glad you asked! Braxton-Bragg has invested years of effort and quite a bit of money developing our websites. Many of our competitors have attempted to copy the look and feel, but most of the efforts left something to be desired. Our largest competitor, GranQuartz, introduced a pretty good copy in early December. Now, it might seem normal to be upset that others copy your work, but I am not upset, I am ecstatic!
It is now possible for customers to really do comparison-shopping and measure features and value online. Since we only sell the highest quality product at the lowest possible price, comparison-shopping is not something to be feared, it is something to celebrate!
While we are on the subject of innovation, stop by the Braxton-Bragg booth (3541) at StonExpo. We have several very interesting new products and we would love to show you.
Have a good read.
