Apperently, zombies have become a political issue in a state Senate race in Spokane.

Incumbent Republican Sen. Michael Baumgartner is challenged by Democrat Rich Cowan, whose North by Northwest production company helped film “Z Nation” for the Syfy Channel in Spokane.

KXLY reports Cowan touts the hundreds of jobs the TV show brought to the city. Baumgartner says the zombie jobs are temporary and created with a taxpayer subsidy.

Cowan says the second season of “Z Nation” will likely be produced in Spokane.
