After adorning her veranda and interior with marble medallions, North Carolina home owner Linda Wilson came back to Creative Edge Master Shop to add a special touch to her pool
She commissioned the whimsical “Birds of Paradise” mural for the grotto in her outdoor pool. This piece demonstrates how waterjet cut tile can both amuse and delight people with a unique mural design.
The grotto mural is set behind a waterfall that pours from the hot tub located above the pool. Ms. Wilson wanted a fantasy bird of paradise and floral design. Annie at Aalto Design developed a design that was colorful and fun, but also formal and in keeping with the high-end finishes in the rest of the property. The birds’ bold coloring included most of the primary and secondary colors on the color wheel.
These new avian creatures take flight against a two-toned field of white and creme simple arabesque background. They live in a paradise of matching borders that include green leaves, swaying petals and dramatic flowers. Altogether, the mural on the back and sides of the waterfall grotto is composed of hundreds of small pieces.
Creative Edge’s Tami Sawyer worked with her client, Linda Wilson, and selected the tile. Ms. Sawyer chose the Natural Hues™ tile by Daltile for its durability and bright colors. It is also a perfect tile for waterjet cut projects.
Creative Edge Master Shop and Aalto Design have been creating waterjet cut project for more than 25 years.
