One World Trade Center. Inset: One of five identical cornerstones made from black granite, white marble and stainless steel. The blocks are 2˝ thick, waterjet cut, with a single intricate stainless steel graphic inlay. This building is an important part of history, replacing the World Trade Center that was destroyed in the 2001 terrorist attacks.

The new structure evokes the shock, rage, sadness, defiance and pride that resonates through New York City and the nation.

This building will be the tallest on the New York City skyline, the tallest skyscraper in the United States, and third tallest building in the world (2013).

The building, developed by Silverstein Properties, follows the design of David Childs of Skidmore Owings and Merrill architects. At 1176 feet, the building contains 104 floors, with mixed transportation, retail, commercial, government and residential space.

At this time, all space has been committed. One World Trade Center is scheduled to open in late 2013.  Originally nicknamed Freedom Tower, the official name henceforth will be One World Trade Center.

Creative Edge created the cornerstone pieces for the building from black granite, white marble and stainless steel.

They bear the name of the project’s developer, Silverstein Properties.

The blocks are 2˝ thick, waterjet cut, with a single intricate stainless steel graphic inlay.

“It was our honor to be involved in a small but important part of this significant building,” said Creative Edge president, Jim Belilove.
