When a woman on the staff of the school announced her engagement, a friend and colleague offered up some "been there, done that" advice.

"Really, the first ten years are the hardest," he told her.

"Really, is that so?" she asked.

"Oh, yeah," he replied with the utmost certainty.

"How long have you been married?" she asked.

"Oh, about ten years," he said.
