We receive mail every month from fabricators all over the country presenting interesting, notable projects, and sometime even new products.
Exactly three years ago, we published a story on fabricators working on an interesting new idea: solid body, one-of-a kind guitars made from beautiful granites. They were real, functioning guitars with a resonance that was out of this world. Some were beautiful display pieces, reproductions of famous model guitars; one was even donated to a children's music charity, a very worthy cause.
When our writer contacted these fabrication pioneers to get background information for the article; some never returned his calls, but some called back, and even provided photos and a great story about this fascinating, new concept. We went with the info we had, and developed an article for the January 2008 issue. We expected great things from these innovators, but regrettably, received no update on their progress.
Fast forward almost 3 years: Mr. Robert DiSanto contacted us in November 2010, and asked if we recalled the story on stone guitars.
As it turned out, Mr. DiSanto is the actual developer and owner of the patented process concerning all the StoneTone® technologies. We apologize to Mr. DiSanto for the confusion that this has caused regarding the ownership of his property and setbacks he has faced after the piracy of his property. We hope to make amends by setting the record straight, for DiSanto has achieved much over the past 3 years.
See page 25 for the continuation of his efforts to create more unique musical instruments. Visit www.slipperyrockgazette.net / January for links to some truly amazing videos that chronicle his experiments to create his StoneTone® instruments.
