Rocky Mountain Stone’s Counters for a Cause Project Helps Homeless Children Through Local Program
This past November, Rocky Mountain Stone donated three percent from their Counters for a Cause sale to The Rock at Noonday’s Alex Fund during a special event held at Rocky Mountain Stone. Named for Alex Michael Layer (November 30, 1998 – February 2, 2004), The Alex Fund at The Rock was established to support Albuquerque’s homeless and near homeless children.
The Rock at Noonday is an Albuquerque, New Mexico service that provides food for the homeless and hungry, five days a week. Rocky Mountain Stone has raised funds for this and other national charities for the past 5 years. |
RMS’s Counters for a Cause project has been involved in a national giving program for the last 5 years. “This year we decided to go local and our company chose to support children in the Albuquerque area. Our entire staff was dedicated to the effort,” said Scott Lardner, RMS President.
Last year, The Rock served over 108,000 meals while also providing other basic services. Partnerships with community organizations allow those in need to access many additional services on-site.
“Hurting children and families can sometimes be forgotten. The Alex Fund was established to help homeless and near homeless children. We are grateful for Rocky Mountain Stone and their commitment to impacting children in a positive way,” commented Danny Whatley, Executive Director, The Rock at Noonday.
Rocky Mountain Stone was started in 1963 as a supplier of natural building and landscaping stone for the Albuquerque area. Since then, they have expanded into every aspect of the natural stone industry and are industry leaders within the marble & granite countertop trade.
Operating since 1982, The Rock at Noonday serves the homeless and hungry in the Albuquerque community. The Rock is open Tuesday – Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and on Sundays from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.
