MIA Chapters: Bringing Education to the Stone Industry on a Local Level
The inaugural year of MIA chapters boasted two important milestones; the formation of MIA chapters in New York and Toronto.
Each chapter has met the requirement of having 20 members and both are in the process of finalizing their 2014 schedules. Here is a quick review of the chapter program’s 2013 accomplishments:
- 5 Educational Events across the 2 cities
- Over 150 participants attended events over 2 cities
- Over 50 new member companies registered in the 2 chapters
Next year, programming will be ramped up in each city as the New York and Toronto Chapters drive toward their mission of educating stone industry professionals with quarterly educational programming.
New York Chapter Education Topics Include:
- Sales Training
- Stone Industry Geology
- OSHA Training
- CEU Training for Architects and Designers
Toronto Chapter Education Topics Include:
- Installer Training
- Toronto Quarry Tour
- CEU Training for Architects and Designers
In addition to chapter education programming, each city has planned a Fabricator Forum as part of the MIA & Stone World series of regional seminars. The Fabricator Forums continue to be very popular and provide content that touches on every sector of the industry.
The MIA chapter program provides education and networking to stone industry professionals on a local level. For more information on the MIA’s Chapter Program, please contact Aaron Dahnke at adahnke@marble-institute.com or go to www.marble-institute.com/chapters/.
